Buhlebethu High school, located in the rural parts of Kwazulu-Natal under the Umzumbe local authority is a high school that accommodates and educates over +1000 learners from grade 8 -12, who reside in and around Umzumbe. Taking into consideration the large magnitude of the learners in the school, Buhlebethu high school is in possession of 37 educators who educate a range of subjects with fields of expertise. In addition, there are 13 supporting staff- (Including the SGB) dedicated to assisting the school, in the daily operations and maintenance thereof. In the leadership board of the high school, are two highly passionate and driven Principals, namely Mr. Majola (The Principal) and Mr. Nxamo (The deputy Principal) who dedicated in advancing and furthering the development of the learners and the school.

On a yearly basis, Buhlebethu High School has sustained a matric pass rate of over 90% with the inclusion of Mathematics and Science. For a school located in one of the most impoverished and disadvantaged areas, the results demonstrate a sign of true hard work and determination and perseverance from the educators and learners. It is with this notion in mind, that Aberdare handpicked Buhlebethu High school as a donor to benefit from the mobile science lab produced and manufactured by Phakama Research and Development.

The science laboratory kits are packaged in a mobile cabinet trolley. This package comes with curriculum aligned science equipment, glassware, apparatuses, chemicals and lab coats and stepwise designed experiment write-ups as well as videos. In effect, the teaching of science in its practical sense is enhanced.

The mobile science lab is designed to provide a full-scale lab teaching experience where all curriculum experiments can be performed. Science Kits provide an immediate enhancement to increased effectiveness in the teaching and learning of science in the classroom.

As pioneers in the field of technology and Innovation, Aberdare is driven by the responsibility of giving back to communities and education centre’s that will further develop the industry.
